Art at APA

I am a K-9 art teacher at a charter school in Draper, UT. I have been teaching here for going on 7 years. Before working here, I taught photography, ceramics, and drawing at the high school level. I have noticed over the past year or so (since Pinterest became so popular) that there are tons of art blogs, which is AWESOME because they spread so many wonderful ideas for teaching art to kids. I'm just trying to add my two cents here. Our school teaches Core Knowledge curriculum, as well as following state guide lines and curriculum. The challenge for me is I have multiple curriculum to meet as well making sure that students projects co-relate to what they are learning in class. Each teacher at our school is required to have a 180-day plan. This makes it a lot easier for me to co-relate our art projects, as teachers just send me their 180-day plan at the beginning of the year so that I can plan out my curriculum. I am trying quite a few different projects this year and will post photos as they finish.
